Kyle Bledsoe at People’s Brewing

by Carl Abernathy on December 6, 2017

Kyle Bledsoe’s fingers dance when he plays guitar.

The Indianapolis-based bluesman can work a crowd into a frenzy all by himself. Armed only with an acoustic guitar and an array of pedals, he shimmied through a series of frenetic blues covers and originals Tuesday at People’s Brewing Co. in Lafayette. He can sway, too; his guitar work was exquisite when he slowed the pace.

And though his voice isn’t as powerful as his guitar licks, it’s pleasant and, at times, even hypnotic, especially when he covers Tom Petty’s “Learning to Fly.”

I’ve known about Bledsoe for years, but I’d never seen him, even though he’s a Lafayette native. Hope to catch one of his shows again soon.
