Chicago Afrobeat Project at The Black Sparrow’s 10th anniversary street party

by Carl Abernathy on October 15, 2017

The Chicago Afrobeat Project’s music shimmies through a different musical genre with almost every note. Funk, Afrobeat, jazz, hip-hop, rock…

Underneath everything, though, there’s The Groove. Funky, sexy, hypnotic.

I’d heard about the group for years, but I’d never seen them until Black Sparrow owner Paul Baldwin brought them to Lafayette for the bar’s 10th anniversary street party. Now, I’m making plans to catch them in Chicago the next time I visit the Windy City.

Great show.
